Karate Flop

So, I finally watched Karate Kid. I had pre-conceived ideas about this film which were later confirmed as I finished the film wishing I hadn't wasted the last hours of my life. It doesn't compare to the waste of time that was 'Pink Panther' but its up there. First of all, why would you move to China when you live in the USA? I'm all for new beginnings but the USA is an enormous place.

In the highly "original" story line, this boy played by Jaden Smith is being bullied and he wants to defend himself. Miraculously, the caretaker in his building is a martial arts master and decides he will teach the boy some moves. After seeing him take off and pick up his jacket for most of the film, my patience was starting to ware off. In the end this petite child that had about a few months training enters a competition against kids that have been learning the art for their whole lives. And what do you know, a couple of knocks and bruises later he wins the whole thing!

As I ended the film I thought to myself, right, that was...interesting. It wasn't the worst film I had watched, but I wouldn't watch it agai...

No people, that wasn't a typo. That was the sound of Justin Bieber's voice interrupting my thought flow. As I thought the film couldn't get any worse, Bieber's song was in the credits. Leaving my respect for the film at 0.

Later on in the credits, it said, "Produced by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith". What? No? As if Jaden Smith's mediocre acting wasn't enough, I find out the only reason he got the part was most certainly because his parents produced the film. Great. Now my faith in the industry was at zero too.

Origin of 'F.U.C.K'

In olden England people couldn't have sex, unless under the consent of the King. When someone wanted to make a baby they would have to ask the kings permission. When granted the permission they would be given a plaque to hang on their front door while sexually active. This plaque read, "Fornication Under Consent of the King" originating the much loved swear word of today - FUCK.

So when people didn't have this permission, does this mean they weren't "FUCKING" because their was no "Fornication Under Consent of the King"?

Well, its nice to know the royals started this off.

Banksy Portrait Stolen

Oh, and Kate Moss was burgled. The thieves broke into Kate Moss' home and left with several pieces of valuable artwork including a Banksy portrait worth £80,000. *Cries*

The model, her partner and her mother are said to have been asleep while the thieves were busy. A 24 yr old man has been arrested in connection to the burglary and is being questioned. Those filthy burglars cant keep their hands off those Banksy's.

They weren't really smart were they? If your going to rob Kate Moss wouldn't you target that known substance she consumes rather than the defenseless Banksy portrait. I'm sure that would have earned them a lot more. But I am in NO way promoting burglary or burgling Kate Moss so DON'T do it! Its WRONG!

Blogger Revenge

Well-known blogger, Zoe Margolis, is the author of the 'Girl With A One Track Mind' blog. She has won an estimated £50, 000 after a newspaper mistakenly called her a "Hooker" in a headline. If that wasn't enough, they paid for her legal costs as well. The action went down at the Royal Courts of Justice.

She told 'Sky News Online' that she was relieved the case had been resolved and that "the experience of having my reputation tarnished has been absolutely devastating". I bet it has.

Well, now she can go cry in her bedroom eating gold plated Belgian chocolates and drink some Cristal champagne.

If it was me I would have done the same as Ms. Margolis but any exposure is good exposure so, I wouldn't have found it so profoundly "devastating".

Being Loyal Pays Off - Big Time!

Hollywood actress, Ruth Ford who died last year at the age of 98 gave her entire £5.6 Million fortune to her butler! And her family? Oh, they got nothing.

Mrs Ford owned two apartments in the Dakota Building, New York. These now belong to Indra Tamang, her Nepalese butler who was raised in a mud hut in the rural parts of Nepal. That's not all he got. He also got her valuable collection of Russian surrealist art. The only things he didn't get was her clothes and jewellery, though, I'm sure his wife will make good use of them.

Mr Tamang lived with his wife and three daughters in a small house in Queens and he said he was, "grateful, honoured and humbled" by Mrs Ford's generosity. (Telegraph) Who wouldn't? I would visit her grave every day if I was left that much.

The 57 year old butler cooked, cleaned and cared for Mrs Ford's brother until he died, then did the same for her. Too bad he wont be working anymore. I'm sure her younger family would want the same service.

Well, loyalty does pay off. Just don't go leaving your fortune to your dogs, if they're the only ones who have been loyal to you. If you have no one to leave it to, comment and I shall send you an email with my details.

On a more serious note, Mr Tamang, you should sell them Russian paintings at an auction and get yourself a few more millions.

'Ruined' Review

'Ruined' is about the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo and how women are subjected to unthinkable treatment by the army. The play is set in a bar/brothel run by Mama Nadi whose strong will, stubbornness and determination is so beautifully portrayed by Jenny Jules. Mama Nadi's bar is in a small miners village in Congo. She takes on two new girls; Salima and Sophie whose lives have been eclipsed by the cruelty men inflicted on them. Mama Nadi's place attracts the attention of two rival forces and because her hunger for business is so great, she befriends both forces which will bring bad luck.

From the start the vibrant costumes and set (Robert Jones) capture the audience into a bubble they do not want to leave. As the live music from the drum and guitar players on stage starts, you feel almost part of the scene. The naturalistic essence of the play is so vivid you can even smell what Mama Nadi's place is like.

The writer, Lynn Nottage captures the lives of these people so well it brings you to tears. The direction by Indhu Rubasingham sweeps the audience into an almost hypnotic trance as they lean in as far as they can to immerse themselves into each message, sound and movement this play has to offer.

If the resounding roar of applause and standing ovations by the audience is anything to go by, I would say this was undoubtedly the best play I have seen to date.

Would recommend it to anyone who has a pumping heart!

SOS Rocks the UK Music Scene

Lately most of my entries have mostly been about music, but how can I resist with so many hot artists out there?

The latest boy band to rejuvenate my iPod is Sons Of Soul (SOS). These four boys are making a hell of an entrance with their sizzling cross between RnB and Soul. They have a futuristic, fashionable look to complement their music which is brought through in their new video for their extremely catchy song, 'Candy Girl'.

Check out the video below! In contrast to the bubble gum pop that is JLS, the guys in SOS have a fresh sound and style that I have yet to see hit the industry.

This song makes me want to 'Woohoo'

Christina Aguilera has released the second song from her album 'Bionic'. After the sizzling 'Not Myself Tonight' she gives us a head-banging collaboration with Nicki Minaj.

'Woohoo' is an upbeat track that Christina added to her album last minute and she still manages to keep those amazing vocals in there, showing off true talent. I like it, but I don't love it as much as 'Not Myself Tonight'. It is still a great track though and I can not wait for this album to be released.

Naked Gardening Day

Despite the weather its the fifth annual 'World Naked Gardening Day' in the UK. The weird event is held on the first Saturday of May every year. It is intended for those gardening fans to take care of their gardens butt - nekked! The creators of this day are encouraging people to do this in the privacy of their own garden or take it to a more public place like the park. If you are doing it, don't go to St. James' Park. I'm sure the only hung thing the Queen wants to see right now is the Parliament.

The creators also believe this will help bring communities together and it is a chance for all ages and backgrounds to embrace the environment! OK, I still fail to see the point of this, I'm sure whoever doesn't mind being naked will do it any other day, it doesn't need to be a special event!

Yesterday Christina Aguilera rocked the stage on Oprah's show for the first time in this 'Bionic' era! Her vocals were amazing as always, her energy was through the roof and well, I think the video speaks for itself.

Oh, and how big is that Oprah studio? It's like an arena in there!

New Found Respect

Okay, Okay, the many who know me, know that I would say something bad about Miley Cyrus the first opportunity I would get. "Oh she sounds like a frog", "Oh her fugly face!" But since I saw her new video I have new found respect for her. The video for 'Can't Be Tamed' is a cliche in the sense that shes trapped in a cage as a bird and escapes etc. However, it is done so well I couldn't keep my eyes off her.

The thing I hated about Miley is that she was a squeaky clean Disney star giving the industry exactly what they wanted out of her. In this video she is dancing close to men, she's got her leg up on that nest and shes doing some sexy shiz. To me, that's what I call 'breaking the mould' and I respect her for that.

As you may have heard Christina Aguilera has been under scrutiny by those hard-core Gaga fans who have their head up her freak hairstyles, they fail to see the truth. Below is a video that shows that everything Lady Gaga is doing, Aguilera has done it better back in the day. And I know some will say, "So shes copying her just because they're both wearing white?" Stop being hypocrites because that's exactly what your doing to Aguilera when you feel threatened by her forceful presence in the music industry again. Stop hating and appreciate real artistry.

Music Night

Last night I went out with some friends to the o2 Academy in Islington to see the band , 'The Famous Class'!

We got there and the £3 tickets were like heaven to my wallet! Being the only sane one there I was rejoicing I had money for the tube. The others just had booze in front of their eyes, so we hit the bar. Being under 18 I didn't buy a drink because I'm a law abiding citizen - to some extent - so I had a bit of everyone's.

The first band had lost their drummer that very afternoon, we all felt sorry for them but they did a good job.

Now, we were there to cheer on 'The Famous Class' and they deserved all the cheering they could get! Their music had everyone's head banging and even though it was so loud I couldn't hear the lyrics, the instrumentals more than made up for it. Their music is a pleasing cross between pop and punk and I keep wondering why aren't they as big or bigger than some other bands out there, because they are way better!

Keeping It In The Family

Pearl Carter, 72, a pensioner from Indiana in America (if you haven't guessed already) reveals she has never been happier after starting a relationship with her 26 year old grandson, Phil Bailey. She is also using her pension money to pay a surrogate mother to have their child.

Carter said, "I'm not interested in anyone else's opinion. I am in love with Phil and he's in love with me." Wait, it gets worse, "Soon I'll be holding my son or daughter in my arms and Phil will be the proud dad." - Yeah, a proud dad/uncle!

Her Grandson is the son of her daughter Lynette Bailey who was put up for adoption when Pearl Carter was 18. Then when his mother died, Phil took it upon himself to track down his grandmother and he somehow found her attractive and hooked up straight away!

Pearl told New Idea magazine, "For the first time in years I felt sexually alive." The disgust doesn't end here. She continues, "I called Phil into my bedroom, sat him on the bed, and then I leant over and kissed him." - I feel sorry for this reporter, how did she managed to keep her brekkie down?

This is just wrong in all sense of the word! Can you imagine how emotionally twisted that child is going to be?! "Hey dad! um...Uncle Phil? Dad?" - Its just not going to work!

When he/she is starting secondary school or "high school" their great grandmother/mother will be in her 80s! This is some next level Jerry Springer topic.

Dolphin Clicks Help Blind Boy See!

Four year old, Jaime Aspland is blind and he has been taught to "see" by clicking his tongue and and listening to the way the clicks bounce off objects nearby!

This technique is called echo-location and its the same technique that dolphins use to navigate through the ocean. Echo-location helps Jaime build up a mental image of the world around him.

Jaime is one of the few children to be learning the technique from Daniel Kish.

Kish is blind himself, he pioneered the technique and has been touring the world, teaching it to others. Jaime's family had to raise £2,500 to pay for the lessons but said it is worth it. The boy can walk downstairs with no help and can distinguish between objects in front of him.

His mum explains, "We could see him walking towards a fence and my heart stopped. But literally without using a stick or anything he just knew it was there and walked around it. I was so amazed." It looks like this works and can help many people so that they don't become dependent on "seeing" sticks or guide dogs.

However, I wonder how people will feel about having someone "click" near them on public transport?

Team Risk Lives For Eyjafjallajokull Volcano (the one in Island)

A team from the National Geographic Channel, went to Iceland to film the Volcano before the eruption! Risking their lives for the dangerous footage of the volcano bubbling with lava just ready to blow.

Two people in the crew gave a quote about their feelings during that time.

"In all my 22 years of filming around the world, this was the most exciting and fantastic experience I have ever had." - I can imagine!

Another crew member said, "I could feel the ash in my mouth and face. My body started to produce adrenalin and I found myself in a situation I had never been in before." - Yes, this tends to happen when you put yourself at the feet of a volcano waiting to explode! So you didn't just find yourself there mate, you got on that helicopter!

Micheal Jackson's Lawyer Found Dead!

Michael Jackson's former music lawyer, Peter Lopez was found shot at his own home in an apparent suicide.

Peter Lopez was a successful music lawyer having worked for Michael Jackson, Michael Buble, Andrea Bocelli and The Eagles. He was married to former Dukes of Hazzard actress, Catherine Bach, lived in the Encino Hills in California and had two daughters. He is referred to by MJs former manager as a "good guy" and she "couldn't think of a nicer individual".

Question is, why would a successful man with an apparent good life want to kill himself? What was his motive?

You may think I've watched too much CSI but nothing ever seems so straight forward. The investigation continues...

FHMs Sexiest

Cheryl "Single" Tweedy has been named Sexiest Woman of the Year for the second year running. I have to say, I cant argue with FHM because Cheryl is one hot piece of Geordie pie! At number two was Megan Fox, the hottest of the hot! Third place went to underwear model, Marissa Miller.

You will NOT believe who took sixth place. It's actually laughable and not in a Frank Sinatra type way. Kirsten Steward. Yes, the greasy haired, failed mullet, awkward human being that plays a "dear in headlights" in the Twilight Saga! Maybe the poll was taken on April Fools, but who knows?

I seriously hope voters take the poll seriously from now on! Until then, I'm content with Cheryl and Megan rocking my computer screen! But seriously now, Cheryl deserves a better guy! Someone who will appreciate her, too bad she doesn't have my number eh?

Latest Doing The "Madonna Skank"

Oscar winning actress (one of my favourite may I add) Sandra Bullock revealed she adopted a baby boy in secret and will now raise him on her own. Bullock took custody of three and a half month old Louis Bardo Bullock, when she was still with her husband back in January.

Following her cheat of a husband, Jesse James being unfaithful to her she began divorce proceedings and now says she will raise the child alone and will adopt the New-Orleans born baby as a single parent.

She's been strong through-out all of this and didn't pull a Lindsay Lohan. I am proud of her!

Oh God, Sooo Shocking...

The N-Dubz rapper, "Dappy" now regrets taking Mephedrone at an Essex night club. That is after he found he was filmed doing it of course.

The 22 year old has a young son with his ex-girlfriend (I can see your "shocked" faces already), he sent abusive comments to a Radio 1 listener one which said, "your gonna die" (yes he spelt 'your' right)!

What I'm trying to get at here is that young people look up to him and yet he's messing up his own life. Fair enough he appears in anti-bulling campaigns and does all this stuff for under privileged communities etc. but there is no point in doing them if your cant carry them on into your life.

Maybe it can be their next hit along with the ones that talk about teenage pregnancy, crime, "sucking" oneself! They should just be the house band for Jeremy Kyle, I'm sure that would brighten up weekday mornings.

Over the last week Christina Aguilera has made her fans anticipate the long awaited album! With a count down clock on her website she gradually exposed her new single title, cover and lyrics. Now it is all out in the open! Her new album "Bionic" will be released on 8th June 2010!

Aguilera says, "I was able to explore and create a fresh, sexy feel using both electronic and organic elements with subject matter ranging from playful to introspective. I am so excited for my fans to hear the new sound. It is something I don't think anyone will expect."

Lily Allen Starts On New Venture

The singer has confirmed she is taking a break from music and focusing on a clothing shop she is starting up with her sister called, Lucy in Disguise. They are looking for a central London location for their shop. Meanwhile, there will be a Lucy in Disguise stall at Goodwood for the summer festival.

British Cinema Chains Being Mad Hatters

Two of Britain's biggest cinema chains, Odeon and Vue are boycotting Tim Burton's soon to be hit, Alice In Wonderland. The drama has started because of Disney wanting to shorten the DVD release window from 17 weeks to 12 weeks. It is said that shortening the release time will have a "negative impact on cinema attendance" and will "threaten the continued existence of many cinemas."

I fail to see how this could happen, as most people don't have 3D technology in their homes and a film like this is meant to be seen in 3D. So, people will pay to go to the cinema, and because its out for a shorter time they will flock in the hundred to make sure they see it. This means 40% of Britain's cinemas will not be showing the movie.

However, Odeon will still hold the films premier on Thursday at London's prestigious Leicester Square. One of the cinema chains that will be showing it is Cineworld. I am sure they will make a huge amount of money as it will be receiving Odeon's and Vue's flock of customers who want to see the 3D extravaganza.

What's The Time Mr. Bond? Wait, You've Just Opened Your Car...

That is because for those rich people out there who have £20,000 or so to spare, can now be closer to being James Bond. The World's most expensive car key has been launched. The extravagant devise is hidden inside, what looks like, a normal watch and its touch sensitive face will open the doors to your Aston Martin.

If you press the space between numbers 8 and 9 the doors will open and if you press the space between number 3 and 4 they will close. Or if you happen to forget where you parked you press them both together and the car lights will flash. Which, is also a good strategy to impress your mates.

London Fashion Week Becoming More Bold & Beautiful

According to a lead fashion designer, Bora Aksu, commented on the breakthrough of plus-size models on the catwalk. He said, "Over the last couple of seasons they have become more noticeable," and he also said "You also notice that these are girls who look healthy and happy." And what a better way to promote clothes with a smile?

When in 2007 there were several deaths of size-zero models, the British Fashion Council began a model health inquiry. It failed to set out strong guidelines for the fashion industry but some of the worlds famous models are warming to the idea. Like Naomi Campbell who said, "I think the bigger the better. I don't comment on size, I think if someone is beautiful then they should do what they want to do."

Some criticise the normal body up-rising and say that using normal size women on the catwalk is that it emphasises how thin the others are.

Well maybe the others should stock up on their meals and start looking like everyone else. I'm glad to see normal bodies on the runway. After all, I do lurve the curve.

A designer who has broken the mould is Mark Fast, a Canadian designer who used three plus-size models to model is tight knitwear (pictured). It was so controversial that his stylist and casting director walked out.

And The Drama Continues...

Football whore Ashley Cole is facing new allegations that he begged one of his lovers Ann Corbit, to keep quiet about the affair. She made the allegations in an interview with News of The World and said she only found out he was married after they had slept together. Either she is stupid or she doesn't read magazines or watch TV. How can you not know the man your sleeping with is married to one of Britain's hottest role models?

She went on to say that she had kept quiet as many journalists approached her but now she wanted to set the record straight (and earn some money).

Despite all this Cheryl Cole is currently in LA recording new songs. Either Cole is extremely blind or he has some kind of sex abnormality. I know if I had a wife that looked like Cheryl, I wouldn't be getting my candy from any other store.

McQueen's Heartbreaking Death

One of the hot-shot and most sought after designers of today, Alexander McQueen was found hung inside his wardrobe in his Mayfair flat on February 4th. On February 15th his body was identified by his sister. An inquest heard today that the cause of death was asphyxiation and hanging. Detective Inspector Paul Armstrong said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and presented the coroners court with a note found at the flat. He was found the day before he was due to attend his mothers funeral, who he was very close to.

A sad ending to an amazing life and an even brighter future.

Britain Loves Gaga...

...Well, her music at least. The strangely fashioned superstar picked up three Brit awards last night! She won Best International Break-Through Act, Best International Female Artist and Best International Album! After an amazing tribute performance to designer Alexander McQueen, she tearfully accepted the awards and thanked her fans more than anyone else! Supporting a tower of hair-do, wearing her curtains on the red-carpet and later stripping into a lace outfit Lady Gaga was queen of the night.

Proposal Fail - FAKE!

I posted yesterday about a man who proposed at a hockey game in New York, via the video board and he got declined in front of thousands by his girlfriend. Well, it was all fake. The couple were paid actors who had been contracted to provide entertainment for the crowd.

Cinema's Rage Against Alice

Britain's biggest cinema chains are considering not showing Tim Burton's latest creation of fabulousness because Disney want to send it to DVD after a 13 week show on the big screen. The normal release time between when a film premiers in the cinema and is released onto DVD is 17 weeks, however Disney want to shorten it, so it boosts business. Cinema chains like Odeon and Vue have not been advertising the film on their websites and it is due for release on the 5th of March. In their defence, shortening the length of release time will mean they wont be able to profit as much. But who cares! We want Alice and if cinema goers know the film will be on the big screen for a shorter amount of time then they will all rush to see it, which, may produce even more money for the cinemas. When You're Proposing - Do it privately!

A man was left shamed when his proposal to his girlfriend via a stadium video board, went very wrong. He was turned down. The couple were supporting the New York Rangers playing at Madison Square Gardens Arena on Valentine's day when a message came on the screen saying, "Melissa, will you be my Blueshirt bride? Love, Nick." Her girlfriend appeard horrified by the message, shook her head and left.

The moral of this story guys - NEVER propose to your girlfriend in public, unless you know she will say 'Yes'. Below is the link to the hilarious fail.

Frisbee Inventor Dies

The man who brought all children happiness - before they started playing with guns and weed - has died at the age of 90. Walter Morrison started throwing cake tins as a beach game with his wife, then after he fought in the the war, made them out out of plastic and called them Pluto platters.

He started demonstrating and selling them in fairs and then in caught the attention of manufacturers Wham-O who took on the product and change its name. Since then is has sold more than 200 million Frisbees. Morrison who lived in Utah in the US had three children.

King Tutankhamun Died of Malaria.

Who would have thought that the disease was around for so long. But recent tests on the mummified king shows he had brain malaria which may have caused his death. One of the most fascinating histories to ever study is Egyptian. When his mummy was found in 1922 it sparked worldwide interest in the history and until now, scientists had thought he died because of a blow to the head and recent tests prove otherwise.

King Tutankhamun only ruled for nine years and died at the age of nineteen. Maybe scientists should stop proding and scanning him and just let him be. Before he comes back to life and kills us all!

So it has been nearly two weeks since I last posted something! I am reaallllyy sorry but I have been swarmed with work to do and I am in my college production of 'Cabaret' so I havn't got loads of time to spare, and the time I do have, I sleep. Mummy Look What I Can Do...

An online game called 'My-Minx' has girls as young as seven creating characters they can give contraception to and adopt babies as fashion accessories.

They can dress their characters in revealing clothing and adopt children at 'Style City' who are named after celebrity children names. For example, Zahara, Pax and Maddox who are Angelina Jolie's children's names and also David Banda and Mercy from Malawi who are Madonna's children. Once the adoption fees have been paid the players can then kit them out in designer clothes and and sell image rights to magazines.

As if this wasn't enough, the young players can see their characters go out on alcohol binges and clubbing to attract men, and they can provide them with contraception and morning after pills called, "Anti-baby pills."

This is why my children are going to spend their days reading books and watching National Geographic. Young girls already have enough pressure to grow up because of magazine covers with the "perfect"-ly (airbrushed) looking girls. Please watch what your child does online and block it. Unless it's this blog of course.

Titanic Hits Another Iceberg...

...And this time its in the form of giant blue people on this fantasy world, who come to us in 3D.

Yes, 'Avatar' is on its way to becoming the highest grossing film ever, sinking 'Titanic' to second place. James Cameron's sci-fi excellence is on its SIXTH week at number one in the US making £22.34 M.

It is just £1.3 M away from taking the top spot and by the way things look, 'Titanic' will sink once more. Having made $1.843 bn worldwide, it has overtaken 2008's Batman sequel, 'The Dark Knight' and became the second highest grossing film.

Take This One Ronaldo!

Those witty and insanely smart Japanese people have invented the world's first engine-powered free kick machine. The machine can smash a football at speeds that pass 100 miles an hour; faster than the "ball" player Cristiano Ronaldo, who was the inspiration for the machine.

It can reach speeds over 200 kilometres per hour, which means a new world record. The machine will be demonstrated at sporting events all over japan in the count down to the World Cup. However, it wont be used to train footballers due to safety reasons.

They should aim one of these "free kicks" at Ronaldo's head, they will do the world a great good.

A Woman Scorned

YaVaughnie Wilkins served up a sweet tasting plate of revenge. She plastered huge billboard posters across the US showing her and her married lover, as revenge for being dumped.

The massive images showing YaVaughnie Wilkins and Charles E Phillips, have the words "You are my soul mate forever!" above them. Wilkins got the idea when Phillips, an adviser to President Obama, decided to leave her after eight and a half years, and go back to his wife.

The posters were put up in New York's Times Square, San Francisco and Atlanta. Costing her a total of £150,000. The posters also contain a link to Wilkins' website, which contains pictures of the two from 2001-2009 and articles written by Wilkins.

Phillips admitted to adultery and said, "I had an eight and a half year serious relationship with YaVaughnie Wilkins.

The poster in New York has been taken down.

I bet the Tiger Woods mistresses are biting themselves saying, "We should have done that!"

Surviving A Quake For Dummies

Since the earthquake in Haiti, we have been flooded with sad news. This one contributes to the few stories of hope and humour. A man trapped under the rubble was pulled out after 11 days. But just how did he survive?

On beer and cookies. Wismond Exantus, was trapped in a grocery store where he worked on the ground floor of Hotel Napoli. He survived 11 days by drinking beer, cola and eating cookies. The shop cashier quickly dived under the desk when the quake started. His brother alerted the Greek rescue team when he heard a voice coming from the rubble.

Even though the Haitian government called off all rescue operations, some international teams still stayed to help. This story creates hope for those who still believe their family and friends are still alive.

A 'Precious' Movie

'Precious' is one of those films that grips your from the start and in most cases, reduces you to tears. The film focuses on an un-educated, obese, black teenage girl, who is fantastically portrayed by Gabourey Sidibe. The girl is raped and impregnated - twice - by her own father and is beaten by her own mother.

Even though it has this brutal storyline it has gained commercial success and has managed to get numerous good reviews. The film has been nominated for four BAFTA awards, let's hope some Oscars too.

Despite it's great reviews, 'Precious' has been under scrutiny because people say it enhances the black stereotype and it doesn't show hope in Obama's lead as President of the USA.

Lee Daniels - the film's director - turns his back to any criticism by saying, "When has there ever, ever been a film that stars a 400lb black girl?" Which I think is the final argument.

The truth is Daniels has done something no other director has. If this was done by any other director, Precious would probably have been played by a pretty, slim actress who spent hours in the make-up studio to look rough. Gabourey Sidibe makes the film realistic and authentic, which is why the film has won some awards already.

Mariah Carey, who doesn't sing, won an award for her part as the social worker. Comedienne Mo'nique received a Golden Globe for best supporting actress in her portrayal of Precious' mother.

Finally, Gabourey Sidibe is tipped to be nominated for best actress at the Oscars.

I hope she does and I hope she wins. It will be a truly remarkable and turning day in Hollywood.

He will use his power, influence and money to create a cover of REM's Everybody Hurts. Others who have been in talks include, Will Young, Robbie Williams, Take That, Joe McElderry, Sir Paul McCartney and N-Dubz. Let’s hope this single raises millions because Haiti needs it.

Shakira's Help to Haiti

Shakira has announced she will have a school built in Haiti through her Barefoot Foundation. The foundation will be partnering with Architecture For Humanity to build the school and NGO to give clean water, food, sanitation service and education to the children.

I'm glad that people who so many others look up to are taking initiative and laying down the foundations to re-build Haiti.

"Loving" Murderer Jailed For Life

A fifty seven year old mother who admitted to killing her brain-damaged son with "love" has been jailed for a minimum of nine years. The murderer took the law into her own hands in 2008 and decided it would be a good idea to kill her son with heroin with the excuse it was to end his suffering. Thankfully today she was jailed. This is one of those situations to discuss whether things are morally right or wrong which takes ages with the million and one argument there are. I think the killer had no right to end her own son’s life. She thought she knew what was best for him with her "act of mercy." If she stopped to think about the second chance God had given him to live, she might not have been so stupid.

Another Tim Burton/Disney Collaboration?

So all my posts today seem to be about the film industry, I will put other news up, I promise. However, Tim Burton the amazing director who started his career in Disney Animation is rumoured to be retelling the story of Sleeping Beauty making the evil villain, Maleficent the focus of the story. I can hardly wait for Burton's version on Alice in Wonderland and now the director with the gothic style is retelling the fairy-tale? Seems like the next few year will be great ones to look forward to in the area of Film!
